Introducing Hawaiian Elegance: Big Island White Ginger Plant Roots!

White ginger (Hedychium coronarium), also known as butterfly ginger, garland flower, or white garland-lily, is a tropical plant valued for its fragrant flowers and rhizomes. Exquisitely fragrant, this is the very classic and beloved Hawaiian flower, used for it’s beauty and perfume in leis. It has been long used to perfume water and coconut oil. This is also a favorite traditional flower of Hawaiians.

The white ginger plant is characterized by its tall, slender stems that can reach heights of 5 to 8 feet. The lance-shaped leaves are arranged alternately along the stems, creating an attractive foliage. The most striking feature of the white ginger, however, is its showy, white, waxy flowers that resemble butterflies. These fragrant blooms are arranged in terminal spikes and add a touch of elegance to gardens and landscapes.
